The service
PinPoint is a privacy-focused location utility developed by Eloquent Software. It lets you save GPS pins, create immutable timestamps, attach photos and notes, and schedule location-related alarms. All data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers that receive your pins, photos, location history, alarms, or timestamps.
These Terms govern your use of the PinPoint mobile app on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). By installing or using PinPoint, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
No account required
The app doesn't require an account or any personal information to function. We don't authenticate you, and we have no way to associate app usage with a real-world identity.
License to use the app
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use PinPoint for personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the app store from which you obtained the app.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, redistribute, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
Your content and your data
🔑 All pins, notes, photos, timestamps, and alarms you create in the app ("Your Content") belong to you. We never receive a copy.
Your Content is stored locally on your device. You retain full ownership. We do not claim any rights to Your Content, and we never receive a copy of it unless you explicitly choose to share or export it through your device's native sharing features.
You are solely responsible for Your Content, including backing it up. The app provides an Export Backup feature for this purpose. We are not responsible for any loss of Your Content due to device damage, app deletion, OS updates, or any other cause.
Permissions
The app requests device permissions (location, camera, photo library, notifications) only to provide its core features. You may revoke any permission at any time through your device's settings; some features may stop working as a result. See our Privacy Policy for details on how each permission is used.
Third-party services
The app uses Google Maps to render maps and to translate coordinates into human-readable addresses. Your use of map features is also governed by Google's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app:
- For any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
- To stalk, harass, harm, or surveil another person without their consent;
- In a manner that could damage, disable, or impair the app or interfere with anyone else's use of it;
- To create timestamps, pins, or photographic records intended to deceive, defraud, or fabricate evidence.
The "proof-of-presence" timestamp feature is provided for personal recordkeeping. We make no warranty that timestamps will be admissible as legal evidence in any jurisdiction.
Disclaimers
⚠️ The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind.
We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that locations, addresses, distances, or alarm timings will be accurate.
Do not rely on the app for emergency navigation, medical decisions, or any situation where failure could lead to property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Eloquent Software be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability under these Terms will not exceed the total net amount actually received by Eloquent Software from the operator of the app store through which you obtained the app (for example, Google Play or Apple’s App Store) for your download or purchase of the app in the twelve months preceding your claim.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue the app or any feature at any time, with or without notice. Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 survive termination.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the app or on our website where reasonably possible.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Eloquent Software is established, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection laws of your residence require otherwise.
